June 2018 Book, Anil's Ghost

Anil's Ghost is set in Sri Lanka, the island nation formerly known as Ceylon, off the southern tip of India. This is a country steeped in centuries of cultural achievement and tradition, but besieged in the 20th century by civil war and its consequences. Anil Tessera, born in Sri Lanka, educated in England and America, is a forensic anthropologist sent by an international human rights group to work with local officials to get to the source of the organized campaigns of murder terrorizing the island; tricky business at best.

Philip Michael Ondaajte, born in Sri Lanka, is a Canadian poet, fiction writer, essayist, novelist, editor and filmmaker. He is well-known for his novel, The English Patient. His first hand knowledge of Sri Lankan culture and geography enables him to paint a vivid and authentically detailed vision for this novel.

His style is unusual, as expressed in this quote by him, "The first sentence of every novel should be: Trust me, this will take time but there is order here, very faint, very human. Meander if you want to get to town.
